I was just listening to the most recent Some Assembly Required program,
and Jon Nelson was talking about the Negativlandland exhibit and
inadvertently said "trademock" when he meant "trademark". It sounds
like it should be a commonly-used copyright violation term, but it does
not seem to be in common usage yet; a Google search turned up only a
handful of uses of that term online, and all the domain name options
still seem to be available. I'm trying to figure out what the term
might mean. I suppose it could refer to a parody logo designed to look
like an existing company's logo, or possibly the act of willfully
defacing or maligning a company's trademarks. It could also be a good
band name, for those of you out there still looking for a performing
name. If you use it, give me and/or Jon a shout-out on your first album,
mmmkay.
