Greetings everyoneI don't know if I ever actually plugged this here, but I will now: My improvisational audio collage group Mannlicher Carcano - now in its 21st year - has been performing a live 3-city telephone linked audio collage radio program, The Mannlicher Carcano Radio Hour for the last 10. Our current home station is CFRU 93.3 in Guelph ON Canada with an additionally layered version (Dog Bites Mannlicher) broadcast on Trentradio 97.7 in Peterborough ON. Live webcasts at www.cfru.ca and www.trentu.ca/trentradio are at 3PM Eastern (12 Noon Pacific) most Saturdays. CFRU usually archives about 6 weeks of programs. They have been experiencing technical difficulties, but seem to have the archive up and limping. Occasionally, as for the last 2 weeks, the MCRH is bumped up 3 hours by a basketball game or other campus activity, but this isn't reflected in the file names in the archive, so be sure you know when the show was actually broadcast before downloading the hour-long mp3s. The most recent show is at Sound Magic - February 14, 2009 at 12:00 - CFRU 93.3.mp3 (Sound Magic is the name of the show that graciously donated an hour to MCRH during the basketball game). Usually the latest show and other fab material are linked to our blog http://mannlichercarcano.blogspot.com Otherwise, go to http://www.cfru.ca/altarchive.php and select Mannlicher Carcano from the list of programs. Click the LIST button and you should see links to mp3 files of the last 5 MC Radio Hours. To download, right click and 'save as' (Windows) of ctrl + click and 'save linked file' (Mac). You can also select programs by date and time. If you go there right now, the setup is different, but it will probably revert to the previous format soon. Each of the three core members of Mannlicher Carcano (myself, Gogo Godot & Porter Hall) live in different cities - currently Winnipeg, Montreal and Los Angeles - and generally perform our contribution with minimal monitoring capability, and the 3 streams are mixed live to air in the studio. Our sound is probably 66.6% some form of sampling, using portable record players playing warped montovani at the wrong speed, stuck religious tirades or anything else released on vinyl, children’s toys, radios, live phone calls, tape loops,as well as traditional and invented instruments (spring-strung bass, ventor, cast aluminum cello), thrift store electronic equipment, field recordings of environmental soundscapes and contact miked appliances. And that's just for starters!Feel free to contact me offlist if you want to know or hear more.Really Happening (AKA Doug Harvey) > From: steev at detritus.net> To: rumori at detritus.net> Date: Fri, 13 Feb 2009 19:37:44 -0700> Subject: [Rumori] radio shows and other relevant news> > Hey rumorites,> > Since this list is so quiet these days I'd like to encourage anyone > who does a relevant radio show or live performances or projects to > mention them here when they do them or are about to do them.> > For example, my good amigo Esteban Caliente does a weekly radio show, > has been for about 6 months now (did I mention it here before, i can't > recall), and he asked me to post his playlist for the show he just > finished up a minute ago on Free Radio Chukshon (see http://freeradiochukshon.org/programs/difficultlisteninghour > ):> > >> >> > Hola, Nin at s, this week is show #17 and I bring you 2 solid slabs of > > uninterrupted tortas ruidas, noise sanduiches, punctuated by a brief > > check-in from your host, yours truly, Esteban Caliente, > > International Hombre of Mystery.> >> > Here's some of the ingredients of those sanduiches you heard:> > Brigitte Bardot - Contact> > Lead Belly - Skip To My Lou> > Yoji Koskeki - Mothra's Song> > Cowboy Bebop Soundtrack - Pot City> > Ground Zero - El Derecho de Vivir en Paz> > Balkan Beat Box - Shushan> > DJ Schmolli - Whole Lotta Sabbath> > "Never Scared" by Unknown> > excerpts of Illuminatus Podcast #7> > Lecure On Nothing - Addiction> > Thug - Everyday Living> > Jib Kidder - Windowdipper> > dj BC - Glass Prison> > excerpts of History podcast - Addicted To Bondage> > excerpts of Secret Order of Masons podcast> > Stallio! - On The Shoulders of Giants> > Kangaroo Court - Atmospheric Disturbance> > The Streets - Let's Push Things Forward> > Antediluvian Rocking Horse - Control's 5.30 Laundry Flight> > Amigos Invisibles - San Augustin> > Deerhoof - Se Piangi Se Ridi> > Steroid Maximus - The Auctioneer of Souls> > God Is My Co-pilot - Butch Flip> > Murad Reis - La Zuppa> >> > > He has also just posted the archive of the show already:> http://freeradiochukshon.org/node/242> > (and there are many other archives)> http://freeradiochukshon.org/station/archives/2> > > hasta la victoria,> > steev> > Steev Hise | steev at detritus.net | http://detritus.net/steev> -----------------------------------------------------------------------------> "Love is everything it's cracked up to be.
