[Rumori] phono ghosts, VHS head, white mask // unknown samplers

i realize we’ve maybe never talked about these artists who are doing largely 80s inspired sampling, i’d known about VHS head since his skam album Trademark Ribbons of Gold, i go back to that time to time. but only recently was i aware (thanks to him) of his local cohorts who work similarly, like phono ghosts who just put out a solid new album. there’s a good interview with him:

stylistically specific, it’s a niche that has a following, it would be interesting to see a rumori artist try something related.

i’m also curious to identify & share more sampling circles that we may not all be paying attention to or are even aware of. for instance i began sampling to write music in high school, my first efforts in composition, before i knew anything about you guys or anything outside of mainstream radio. odds are there are other artists who are not connected to any scene or community but making material we would find interesting. keep a look out!
